2015 was an interesting and exciting year for us. As our active years increase (we are 3 year old!), our music expands and our individual experiences and interpersonal relantionships within the band grow. Members may change, but they always remain a part of The Ghost Notes.
We had a busy year from the start. January found us finishing recordings, mixing, and mastering our second album, ''Secrets Of A Memory'', that was released by Hitchtone Music & Promotion. Blending gypsy jazz with Greek traditional elements can characterise the mood of the Album. We were extremely happy to see this blend being appreciated on our live performances in all of Europe.
Our 3rd European tour took place in February/March, with 12 performances in 6 countries (Greece, Italy, Croatia, Germany, Belgium, UK). After our last experience, we still think touring is one of the best things we can do, and always welcome it with great enthusiasm, from the initial idea until its pragmatisation.
Our first performance of the tour was one we will never forget, as we shared the stage with one of our biggest infuences, Stochelo Rosenberg (The Rosenberg Trio), in Gazarte, Athens. It was a concert we had planned and had been waiting for months, and we feel grateful for the attendance, and content for our hard work that finally delivered on the evening of the 20th of February. It is our obligation to mention again what a wonderful musician and person Stochelo Rosenberg is.
Another incredible moment for all of us was performing at The Royal Albert Hall in London, UK, on the 19th of March. Everything was fantastic that night. There was such an intense but somehow intimate and warm atmosphere that most probably made us give our best performance of the tour. These are the moments to hold on to when musicians question their devotion to music, performing, and all the obstacles arise before fulfilling an accomplishment. Trully magical.
Following a much needed summer break, the band reformed and welcomed new members, while maintaining its founder and composer, Jim Politis. After gigging with the new line-up in the fall, in Greece, and another performance at the Athens Djangofest Festival for the 3rd consecutive year, Jim was invited to Singapore and Malaysia for seminars and 5 performances, in December, one of which happened at the magnificent Outdoor Theater of one of the world's busiest art and music centres, The Esplanade.
We hope the new year will bring us even more inspiration and determination. Once again we would like to thank everybody who supported us in this year's journey. As long as we love creating music and performing, we carry on.
The new year finds us excited to perform at the Djangofollies Festival in Belgium, in January..and who knows what is next..we are looking forward to sharing our future plans with you soon.
Thank you!
